So Romney's tax returns seem to poke a few more holes (get it?) in the inevitability of our once-and-no-longer future 45th president. Other than the Swiss bank account, Willard's taxes are what we thought they were, another multi-millionaire paying a lower tax rate than Warren Buffet's secretary. Which nobody in the elites -- GOP or pundit or whatever -- would have thought was a big deal before Sept. 17, the day a bunch of no-names filed into Zuccotti Park.

In an almost unrelated matter, slugger Prince Fielder is signing a $214 million, 9-year (!) deal with the Detroit Tigers. With Mitt and George and now Prince and Cecil, is every kid from the Motor City obsessed with following in Daddy's footsteps?

How exactly is he hiding the money from the IRS when the offshore accounts were reported to the IRS in the tax forms he submitted?

Ugh, how tedious, sitting on your posterior and pointing out people that have more money than you do. How ridiculous, how childish, how perfectly emblematic of the nonsense we can expect from the left for the next 8 months or so. You're a loser, dude, sheesh.

How many actual dollars did Buffet's secretary pay in taxes? If it was 3 million dollars, I'll concede your point.

Republicans are tax-evading criminals. We all know that. They hate tax laws because they are all afraid of being sent to jail, where they all belong. Hopefully, after Obama wins in another landslide, he starts prosecuting all of these Republicans, starting with Bush and Palin.

Romney gave 16% of his income to charity. How much did Will Bunch give?

How about a hard hitting expose on exactly what taxes he evaded? And a follow up on what laws he broke having off shore accounts. Dude's rich, he made his money honestly, who cares except the petty, jealous serfs who wish they had better lives. And trying to tie in Zuccotti Park is a stretch, even for you Will.

    //another multi-millionaire paying a lower tax rate than Warren Buffet's secretary///

A nicely regurgitated talking point that is, unfortunately, inaccurate. If you look at Romney's tax return, he made most of his income from realized capital gains through business ownership. These gains are taxed once at 35% when the business reports them, and then again at the individual's level. In reality hsi tax percentage is much higher, and you should report the full story.

Be honest, if you were making that kind of money you would have an army of lawyers and accountants taking advantage of all the loopholes, right? Will, how bout making an argument for a more simplified tax law... your "equality dog" aint gonna hunt this election. For every zillionaire on the right paying 15% they're gonna find an equal number of leftists...

Just like the right wingers to miss the point. Its not how much he made, or how much he paid -- he is part of an ideology framing the idea that his ilk pay too much, and therefore we need to lower top marginal tax rates further, when the guy pays less than the actual capital gains rate. And he knew it -- thats why he took the time to assess how to spin this before actually releasing it. It doesn't look so good in light of the framework of Maester Norquist's edicts.

I'm all for a simplified tax system. It's guys like Will whose brains look like the picture above who can't understand the real issues.

If he does get elected president (which seems pretty unlikely, and getting more and more unlikely by the day as people see him more and learn more about him) - it will be hilarious to watch him trying to argue that the rich should get their taxes lowered because it's what would be best for the country.

Almost worth seeing him get elected.

    Almost.

Gee. I just can't figure out why he hemmed and hawed about releasing his tax returns.

    Oh.

    Right.

He did give two reasons. The first is that he didn't want to give a rhetorical advantage to Democrats. Check.

The second was that...um...well....er..... oh, right, because he didn't want to release some of the returns now, some of the returns later, you know. Perfectly logical explanation.

    Too freakin' funny.
