A small minority of climate scientists in the 1970s thought that an ice age might be coming. That this lame talking point about Time's article still persists only shows how little evidence deniers have available to justify their beliefs. It's like that with most of their arguments.

There are a few credible skeptics about AGW (Lindzen, for example), but the tripe that our beloved ARts trot out here is absolutely hilarious.

(1) The fact is that the majority of climate scientists in the 70s who predicted long term trends predicted warming trends due to greenhouse gas warming.

(2) The fact that deniers need to point to a few scientists disagreed only works to undermine their whole point; the exception proves the rule. That hype they give to an occasion where a minority of scientists were in error only proves how often the majority of scientists are correct.

"Run for your lives!!!!! Gather the women and children!!!!!1!!!! A minority of scientists were wrong about something in the 1970s!!!!!1!!!! Our entire world is about to collapse!!!!!1!!!!!!1!!! Clearly, since a minority of scientists were wrong about something in the 1970s, the majority must be wrong about everything - EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE MORE SOPHISTICATED MEASUREMENT AND 40 MORE SEARS OF DATA!!!!!!111!!!1!!!! Scientists can't be trusted!!!!!!1!!!! Run for your lives!!!!!!1!!!!!

The sophisticated measurements only show another pre-Ice Age warming trend...they do not show any increase due to humanity. The only thing that points to AGW are computer simulations written by true believers, hardly irrefutable evidence. Truth be told, the IPCC could legitimately be labeled Ice Age deniers. The ice cores don't lie.

Say - RG, did you hear that "the government" forced people to get smallpox vaccinations - which led to the elimination of the smallpox threat?

Can you imagine how many millions of lives would have been lost if the government hadn't done so?

And can you believe it, RG - some lunatic kooks objected to "the government" forcing citizens to do something, because "the government" thought it would be in the public's interest?

Now what kind of a kook would object to something like that, RG?
