Great songs of The Decade That Shall Not Be Named: "Not Ready to Make Nice" by the Dixie Chicks
It's a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Sayin' that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over
-- "Not Ready to Make Nice," the Dixie Chicks, 2006.
How many of the bozos who burned the Dixie Chicks CDs have said far worse about our current "war president," (sigh), Barack Obama. The great thing about Natalie Maines and Co.? They stood their ground. And they didn't back down.
- I always wondered how so many idiots could listen to Keith's song and cheer on the Iraq War. I could almost hear their thinking, "weeeee'll get them ragheads!" I agree with the Chics, sometimes it's hard to be proud of your country. Hamlet

My wife loves to listen to the country station. Pop music with a southern accent and a cowboy hat is NOT country music. When I hear that Kid Rock/Lynryd Skynyrd combo I swear both Warren Zevon and Ronnie Van Zandt are rolling in their graves. I'm actually embarrassed for them. SteveMG
"The great thing about Natalie Maines and Co.? They stood their ground. And they didn't back down." And they whined nonstop about the unfairness of folks exercising their right to engage in a boycott over objectionable comments. Freedom for the Ditzy Chicks, but not for their critics... db_cooper
Michael Smerconish is a failed Glen Beck. I'm still waiting for a good song to appear. We still have a couple more weeks. SteveMG- Will, it's only fair then to add Toby Keith's "courtesy of the red, white and blue" song to your list, and reflect on his endorsement of Obama last fall. He's been bashing Bush ever since, by the way. Where's his boycott?
