God smites Attytood

POSTED: Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 6:23 PM

Maybe it was the unwarranted attack on the Great American Hamburger, but God hurled a lightning bolt in the general vicinity of Attytood this morning and managed to accomplish what a few dozen angry conservatives have not -- shutting the blog down for a half a day.

I'm back but not for very long (more on that later).

Speaking of God and conservatives, I've been tuning into more right-wing talk radio recently (gotta stay fair and balanced somehow) and here's something I don't get. It's about liberty and personal freedom and people making choices -- that's what I heard Mark Levin telling Sean Hannity just now -- and then Levin adds that his best-selling book has an entire chapter on "faith."

Huh? If your philosophy is personal freedom, how much can you say about faith beyond: People are free to believe -- or not believe -- what they want. Period. A true conservative should be more tolerant of atheists and non-Christian religions, including Islam, but that's certainly not the vibe I pick up from them.

Christians are intolerant of atheist who try to stifle religion. Christians are intolerant of Muslims who seek to murder non-Muslims. Those intolerant Christians! We're not going to tolerate them any more!

Yeah Will, we see a lot of Christians killing Muslims in the name of Jesus. Get a clue.

Will you have us conserveratives all wrong, think Ike. "We face a hostile ideology global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose and insidious in method..." The cold war is over, but really the is about an idealogy that looks for free things, instead of building people and things. People rich character, can give a take a handout but work hard not to want one. People whose faith stays in marriage. Try to understand all, friendly to all, and tolerant of those who appear to have an agenda without know the next. Though not carried out well at times, it does fit the American style of live free and die. The raise yourself up and rags to riches story etc. Like Ike any religion will do, as long as your are practicing. Hope this helps.

In retaliation for this post, God smote Brad Lidge. Do you have "faith" in Ryan Madson?
