Fracking Pennsylvania

Expect more headlines like this one, under the leadership of our new governor Tom Corbett:

Two workers were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals tonight after being burned in an explosion and fire at a Marcellus shale well site in Washington County.

County emergency and state Department of Environmental Protection officials said the explosion occurred at 6:18 p.m.. at Chesapeake Energy’s well off Meadowcroft Road in Avella, a small community in Independence Township not far from the West Virginia border.

One worker was flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Mercy hospital’s burn unit, officials said. A second was flown by LifeFlight to Allegheny General Hospital.

Two or three frac tanks – mobile storage tanks used to hold liquids – were still burning two hours later, DEP spokeswoman Katy Gresh said.
