The point isn't whether anyone in France might or might not respect you. Although I highly doubt that any of them would ever respect you, it was never a question of whether they respect the American people. They have, they do, and they will in the future. The question is whether they respect the man that is the American president. The last eight years they didn't - which had negative ramifications for our ability to achieve foreign policy goals. They will now that we have an adult about to take office.

Everyone who post here can rest easy - there will be no jobs for any of us in an Obama administration - our posting on this blog in and of itself - this has to qualify as writing anything that could be embarassing to the BHO administration.
The world will respect us now, batty. They realize that we have an intelligent man coming into the WH, not some silver spoon cowboy who cares for nothing. Looking forward to being a respected country again.
North philly: Where did you get the idea that liberals are angry? We are quite happy thank you that the Bush era is coming to a close. By the way, referring to a person as the Messiah is an insult not to Obama (I'd be flattered to be called that wouldn't you if it wasn't sarcastic) but to religious people everywhere. Obama is just a man. Frankly, he probably will have big problems trying to fix what Bush is leaving him. At first, he will not have much success (this is not an apology before hand), but we are hopeful as everyone should be that he will ultimately succeed. If he succeeds it will be for the benefit of all Americans, not just liberals. Give him a chance.

CORRECTION - This year Gasparilla is the week after the Super Bowl (Feb 7, 2009) probably because the SB is in Tampa.
If you want to be a Pirate go to Gasparilla in Tampa!!! The party falls the weekend between the AFC/NFC Championship games and the Super Bowl. Complete blast!!!!!!

To be honest, Talk Like A Pirate Day wasn't that much fun this year so 2009 can only be better. Sort of like the economy, I Hope.
