J. Christopher Stevens, 1960-2012

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 9:07 AM

This letter shows the remarkable qualities of American hope and optimism that Chris Stevens took with to Libya as U.S. ambassador. Those hopes were snuffed out when religious extremists consumed with hate killed him and three other Americans. My condolences to the family and loved ones of a man the world should not have lost.

More to come on the tragic events overseas later.

Being an ambassador in a country where a significant number of people hate the United States is a dangerous job. Of course you become a target. You could live in a bunker but then that defeats the point of being an ambassador. Ambassador Stevens and the people who died with him should be honored for their service. My condolences to their families.

Terrorists hate America, they don't care if Obama is the president or not.

Those trying to point finger at Obama need to remember that the Al- Quida movement was funded by Regan to fight Russia in Afghanistan.

Then Al-Quida was further enforced by Bush and his false WMD claim based war in Iraq that handed Iraq over to Iran's Shiites.

    You are kidding...right?

Even a casual glance of the timeline of the US Embassy's comndemnation/apology shows that it happened BEFORE the attack...a little factoid that is being reported by EVERY NEWS ORGANIZATION IN THE WORLD (other than Fox News, of course)...which, within that context, makes Romney's rebuke of "the Obama administration"'s response all the more pathetic.

No acknowledgement of the loss of life.

    No condemnation of the terrorists.

Just a slimy, fact-twisting (nothing new for the Romney/Ryan ticket, natch) bit of politicking that they PRAY will stick enough to get their man in the White House in November.

I am just thankful that virtually EVERY major polling service is showing that Obama's lead is widening and we will keep the divisive fear-mongers out of the White House.

It's getting to be like 1979 all over again for the Islamists. Good thing we have Jimmy Carter in the White House.

And bile atkins immediate response (last night AND this morning)? Turn the situation into a political football. Attack the president. Nevermind the fact that we still have Americans over there fearing for their very lives. Atkins is the lowest kind of lifeform.

Ha, oh the outrage. At least we dont have 500k filling the streets of New York and DC on a regular basis calling Bush a na%-tzi. I guess Islamists dont know our President has a Nobel Peace Prize or that our Secretary of State has been called the "greatest in 100 years despite not a single person being able to tell us why. By the way, apologies to George Marshall for even repeating that piece of propaganda.

Now you recognize the masses who turned out in the streets to protest the war. Also you acknowledge the existence of George W. Bush, would know he existed if you watched the RNC. BTW, Hillary has repaired the damage left her by the George W. Bush Administration.

Policies take time to have an affect on society and it has taken the Obama Administration three and a half years to correct the damage left by George W. Bush but you are not man enough recognize that fact.

I will give credit where it's due: at present, only Will Bunch has acknowledged what happened yesterday in Egypt and Libya. The hideous corporation that he works for has nothing on their web site about the Embassy attacks. The initial response by the US Government to these attacks was a disgrace to this country, to the Ambassador and to the other Americans that were murdered. I wish Will had mentioned that.

The editors of this newspaper would have buried the 9/11 terror attacks with an AP story on page 20 if they thought it might hurt Obama at the polls. Their meal ticket is making sure democrats stay in power. Nothing else.

Does anyone need anymore proof that the trolls on this site would have been attacking Obama had 9/11 happened on his watch? You unpatriotic scumbags make me sick.

Condolences to the Stevens family and thanks, Mr Stevens, for your service. As Obama once inferred about those in uniform, it is their chosen profession....

A loyal American is killed in the line of duty. His body is dragged out of the embassy by these thugs(not sure if he was alive at the time). Meanwhile...tr88, jmc and atkins are giving each other ‘high fives’, believing that they can achieve some sort of political advantage over this tragedy.
