Can't fight the seether -- weekend open thread

POSTED: Sunday, April 27, 2008, 9:57 AM

Yup, can't fight the seether. What are you seething about today? Is the world running out of Veruca Salt, too? Has there been a better time (besides 1980-81) to be a Philadelphia sports fan?

Discuss.

Are the Andy Reid & Tom Heckert Eagles' psychologically incapable of taking anyone who doesn't play on the O or D lines?

    b. atkinson, while I don't condone the "kill the police" chants as an African American male I understand. When you have the police department of NYC who has a documented history of police brutality and much worse you are going to have the people who are the victims react to it. The UNARMED victims in this case were fired upon 50 times! One of the officers reloaded twice! These men had committed NO crime and were NOT armed. But because Al Sharpton holds a rally in protest of the police and the justice system that obviously does not work for them he is "whipping up racial hatred?" Are you kidding? First of all get your facts straight. TWO of the cops were black. The crowd was not yelling "Kill the WHITE police." And why is it Obama's responsibility to denounce any black person that you deemed to be controversial? I don't always agree with Sharpton but unfortunately without him abuses of the system will happen without any consequences or repercussions.

During the same September 18, 2006, edition of National Public Radio's Fresh Air, Hagee said Hurricane Katrina was an act of God, punishing New Orleans for "a level of sin that was offensive to God."...."These are the same people" who support the Republican party "stright talker," John McCain. I'm sure this will impress moderate voter across teh country. So, will McCain have the cajones to denounce this vile hatred from his supporters that blames Americans for Katrina? Will McCain have the cojones to denounce his supporter John Hagee who whips up religious intolerance, or will he stand by and watch innocent people die as homophobic maniacs murder even more homosexukals? Is McCain really for "straight talk," or is he just another empty suit as more and more are beginning to suspect?

Attempting to make a moral equvalence between Hagee and Barack's radical priest is an exercise in futility. No one knows Hagee. He has no Personal relationship with McCain. Have any of you out there even heard his voice, let alone watch him rant and rave on TV? Give it up. In any event McCain, some time ago, dismissed this character and his comments. A hell of a lot more than Barack has been willing to do.

I love watching the sycophants like dear mr. ocjones excuse hateful folks like Hagee. Fortunately, Obama denounces hateful rhetoric. Not dear mr. ocjones, however. Nope. Instead, he excuses the fact that McCain has courted and welcomed the support of someone who blamed Katrina on our fellow Americans. Just goes to show the double standard in the media. Obama denounces hate speech, and gets hounded. McCain courts hate speakers, and gets excused. What a joke. Obviously, folks like dear mr. ocjones couldn't care less about what Wright or Hagee do or don't say - all he cares about is jumping on the hate train - and hatin' on Obama.

Hey b.atkinson can you please send me the link to the video or article where Sharpton says to "Kill the police?" I would love to see that for myself. Don't worry, I won't hold my breath. Funny how you have NO problem with police who fire 50 shots at unarmed men who have committed no crime.

Still waiting for McCain to denounce the violence advocated by Hagee and his supporters. McCain has a chance to influence this situation before someone gets killed. Why won't he interceded with his supporters and insist they not advocate violence? I guess the good news for McCain is that Pat Robertson looks downright civilized compared to Hagee and his "kill the Muslims" thugs. "Kill the Muslims - McCain '08!"...sounds like a bumper sticker in the waiting to me.

"The judge has made his ruling, and we're a nation of laws, so we respect the verdict that came down," "Resorting to violence to express displeasure over a verdict is something that is completely unacceptable and counterproductive." Those are comments made by Barack Obama in response to questioning about the verdict in the Sean Bell case. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/04/25/obama_takes_questions_on_sean.html?hpid=topnews

Wow, b.atinks has been "waiting" an entire eight hours for his pet topic to be addressed - and he's made his "need" to have an "answer" on this known on a blog comments section. Wow, those "conservatives" really know how to tackle an issue head on, don't they? You might notice that these "conservatives" tend to continually wail and cry about topics even after they have answers in the desperate hope that someone will be as foolish as they are.
