Pat Buchanan channeled his inner Attytood right-wing commenter on MSNBC's "Hardball" tonight:
What were the African-American community in Philadelphia that gave him 90% voting on if not the fact that Barack Obama was one of them. West Virginia, Hillary, was one of us. That's the same thing. But West Virginia gets trashed, and Philadelphia is wonderful.
Them? Us? Anyone want to take down Mr. Buchanan here -- I'm too tired tonight. You can watch the video below:
Wait, someone besides me thinks Philadelphia is wonderful?!? Bestill my heart! Oh, it was Pat Buchanan? Nuts... Timmy
I heard it as it happenned. Pat was really getting agitated. His voice was rising and he was talking faster and faster. It seemed like he had gone off the deep end. He seemed to be insisting that WV's voters were typical nationwide, then he backed off and said the educated people eventually leave the state. I don't really take him very seriously. He always seems to be trying to inflate something into a problem. I don't know if he has any track record of prognostication, but generally the problems he says a candidate has usually turn out to be minor. SteveMG
I don't get it, Bunch, what's the big deal? If he referred to BHO as "black" and Hilary as "white" it's the same meaning. And you don't really believe that the fact that BHO was "one of them" had nothing to do with his extremely high percentages of black votes, do you? Please tell me you're not that naive. hjs742
What Buchanan and others are missing is that it is not just Blacks voting for Obama, but a good number of White voters. The fact that Hillary, her campaign, and Buchanan keep referring to all the White votes she gets, makes the argument into something more. mike l- Is Pat still having dreams about the peasants coming to DC with pitchforks? The fact is, blacks in Philly didn't necessarily vote for Obama just because Hillary is white, but it seems a few whites in West Virginia voted for Hillary because Obama is black. So what? That's ben true in probably every state contest so far, but because of the narrow but predominant demographic of West Virginia - white, uneducated, blue collar - it is seen as a deciding factor. The pundits seem to ignore the fact that Obama made no effort to woo these voters against Hillary's massive last-ditch strategy there, a blunder in my view but one that he can correct before November. West Virginians are good people, prone to bigoted sophistry only out of ignorance, not meanness or racism. Obama can connect to these folks if he really tried.
"Pat Buchanan channeled his inner Attytood right-wing commenter" I've bashed Pat Buchananan for years, as have a large number of conservatives. Seems you like playing the generalization and guilt-by-association game yourself, Will. db_cooper
And he was off base and lied about what ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????. same race card played against the bubba about N.Carolina. They were upset when those evil white angry gun luving bible thumpers voted against the obamamissiah mookie
One more time for you dolts. There is historic evidence that Afriacan Americans have voted for white presidential candidates. Did they recently become racist? Do you bother to think? Also, Obama is winning the younger, college educated white votes. RG
"West Virginians are good people, prone to bigoted sophistry only out of ignorance, not meanness or racism" Here's a person in touch with the obama cult message center.DEY GOT GUNS AND ARE BITTER AND GOTS DA RELIGION. takisha
RG the historian tells us "There is historic evidence that Afriacan Americans have voted for white presidential candidates" Now maybe you can give example of BLACK CANDIDATE VS WHITE ? I'll be back in a little for your answer. Please don't use the dueling idiot rev runs as examples of anything other than jokes takisha
Takisha, from your surely fake name and your lame attmepts to mock street slang, you definitely sound bitter and uneducated. If blaming and mocking minorities makes you feel better, thats beyond sad. Maybe you should "take some personal responsibility for yourself" and become "accountable". Or you could continue whining on this blog. RG
I've bashed Pat Buchananan for years, as have a large number of conservatives. Seems you like playing the generalization and guilt-by-association game yourself, Will.Lol! Try reading the comments sometime, db. "Conservatives" have been lining up for months at Attytood to make precisely the kinds of statements Buchanan made in the clip.
Unlike with holding Obama responsible for what other people say (and not McCain, BTW), you're the only one who has associated you, specifically, with Buchanan.
Talking point sleuth
Umm, takisha, do your own research, stop depending on me for intyellectual welfare. These same African American voters flocked to Bill Clinton, and as of a year ago were about 50-50 split between Hillary and Obama. She's ran a poor campaign and they are identifying with Obama. RG
"Lol! Try reading the comments sometime, db. "Conservatives" have been lining up for months at Attytood to make precisely the kinds of statements Buchanan made in the clip. " I didn't see any qualification in Will's association of Pat B. with 'right-wing Attytood commentator' Seems Will gets after folks for generalizations but sure likes making them himself. As do you. Go to FreeRepublic. A strong majority of posters there disagree with Pat on just about everything Pat writes any more. db_cooper
"you're the only one who has associated you, specifically, with Buchanan." Yeah, you're right, I wrote this line: "Pat Buchanan channeled his inner Attytood right-wing commenter " Oops, wait, Will did. Wrong again, TPD. You need to slow down your posting process so you can allow the occasional fact to get pulled into it. db_cooper
