UPDATED: Breaking news: Last surviving Andrews Sister to perform for McCain in Philly

OK, just kidding....but there is this news:

Bruuuceee!

SATURDAY: Springsteen to Join Rally for Obama in Philadelphia
Free concert for Pennsylvanians will be huge opportunity to register voters and sign up volunteers; preferred tickets must be picked up at campaign offices
PHILADELPHIA Bruce Springsteen is coming to Philadelphia this weekend to perform an acoustic set at a rally on the Ben Franklin Parkway in order to assist the Obama campaign's voter registration and volunteer recruitment efforts.

Pretty cool for Philly, even if it's accoustic. Politically, I wonder if it's the best voter registration ploy -- most hard-core Bruce fans that I know have been on the voting rolls for years -- if he wants 18-year-olds, Obama should have recruited Death Cab for Cutie.

Ironically, this is announced the day after word that Bruce -- with the E Street Band -- will be doing the Super Bowl in February. Isn't the Super Bowl on NBC this year? More proof that NBC is in the tank for Obama; I'll bet that Olbermann arranged the whole thing. :-)

UPDATE: If he's going to be acoustic, he'd better perform this (bottom of post):

UPDATE II: Responding to a related story about a Springsteen-Billy Joel joint (heh, heh) fundraiser in NYC, the McCain campaign emails me (yes, I'm still on their email list) this response:

"John McCain felt that it was more important to bring Republicans and Democrats together for the sake of our economy rather than rock stars together for the sake of his campaign."

If only something like that had actually, you know, happened...

UPDATE III: For those of you with a curious mind, there is one surviving Andrews Sister, Patty, who is 90. LaVerne and Maxene have passed away, sadly. Also, if you have a curious mind, you are not eligible to run for vice president.
