Last night at around 7:45 p.m., dead eagles started dropping from the skies over South Philadelphia. Another sign of the End Times, or just a sign that another football season was ending in Philadelphia the way it always does?

You have to be philosophical. No one expected the 2010-11 Eagles to go to the Super Bowl at the start of the season, and everybody was right. You don't win an NFL championship with one of the worst offensive lines in football. or with a young defense that is decimated by injuries. But Michael Vick, DeSean Jackson, and company gave fans more excitement than we expected, so, in the end....it was what it was, and the Eagles were who we thought they were.

Pitchers and catchers yada yada yada...

Don't worry, next season Reid will "do a better job" and the Lombardi Trophy will still go to another team. Just keep chanting "Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt, Hallady, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt...."

They were outplayed by a better team.

Given their handicap of having one of the worst game-day coaches in the league, I'll take a season where they weren't expected to do very well and wound up winning the NFC East and basically eliminating the Giants from the playoffs in a crushing defeat.

I blame the overheated political rhetoric for the Eagles loss. From what I understand, the Packers had a sign in their locker room with a bulls-eye over the Birds logo.

I'm so glad Reid had Akers kick another one instead of going for it on 4th down. Who wants to win anyway?

It was the proper call. It was well within Akers range. If he hits it, then they only need a FG on the last drive.

I thought the same thing at the game - you need points out of that possession to make it a one possession game. The FG was a chip shot that an All-Pro kicker should make no problem.

I thought it was the right call - I also new it would be exctremely unpopular.

This might be the most I've ever agreed with Will. First, that's the one of the best attytood post titles ever! Next, you do make a good point, I didn't think the Eagles would be over .500 this year before the season. They still need a ground game. I'd be content just watching replays of the 4th quarter of the Giants game. The onside kick, the scoring drives, the winning punt return, and the shade of red of Tom Coughlin's face were all epic.

When you have one of the best kickers in the league, you think you would win a game like this, but the defense needs lots of work and tweeking

Does anyone else see LesisFat's obsession with Glenn Beck as a little frightening?
LeIsChubby's post always have Glenn Beck in them? If I was Glenn Beck I would look into this lunatic stalker.

Mike Vick, career (before Eagles) - 52% completion rating, 70 QB rating. Mike Vick in Vikings game - 58% completion, 74 rating. Mike Vick yesterday - 55%, 79 rating. And next year will look more like the past two games as the league remembers how it made him positively average his last full year in Atl where the Falcons were last in passing and 25th in total offense. This guy is a one-trick pony (or dog), and the league knows the trick.

Dead Eagles? Rhetoric a bit overheated? Should we now hold You responsible if some crazed fan takes any violent action?
