Belated Happy World Press Freedom Day!

Their imprisonment and intimidation is a global injustice. When a free media is under attack anywhere, all human rights are under attack everywhere.
-- Hillary Clinton, May 3, 2012.
Wow, I'm so happy to see the U.S. government finally addressing the injustice of the 76 journalists who've been wrongfully arrested or detained since the Occupy Wall Street protests began.
Meanwhile, Todd Gitlin asks, in so many words, whether it's time for America to also observe a World Freedom of Assembly Day.

Agreed. Will should be arrested for daily dribble without understandable thoughts. Read his last post and follow the links. Fisher
It's obvious that high school newspaper reporters can't be out this late, so what's the problem? blackhawk90- "When a free media is under attack anywhere, all human rights are under attack everywhere."
Looks like these people and Rush Limbaugh have a lot in common. jmc

Comment removed.- I love that picture of Will. I have seen him in person and he is at least 60 pounds heavier now. He is like Annette John Hall still using a picture from her 20's with hair on all her articles. Liberal denial is hilarious. towelie
Three journalists were killed this week in Mexico by drug gangs. I wonder of they used the guns that Eric Holder gave them to do the killing? I wonder if any journalists will ever bother to look into it...? Mr. Smith

Here's how you tell if they are "Press" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIUeEpTLBvQ DuncanIdaho
"I wonder if any journalists will ever bother to look into it...?" . . . . . Since you saw it first hand (obviously nobody reported it for you, right?), you could start your own blog and report it yourself. Just sayin. montani semper liberi- The Obama Administration gave truck loads of guns to Mexican drug gangs. The drug gangs killed a handful of journalists. Don't you think it's a relevant question to wonder if there is any connection? Or are you satisfied that no "journalist" is looking into it?
Citizens should raise questions. "Journalists" should be interested in trying to answer the questions that citizens want answers to. Amiright? Or do you prefer "journalists" investigate and report only on things that support their preferred political candidates and agenda? Mr. Smith
Mr. Smith, things change. Journalism is no longer the the privilege of the elite. I suspect those of right-wing persuasion fear the democratization of journalism more than they fear the corporate "liberal" media (which they really need as a useful scapegoat anyway). But heck, if you now think it's relevant that guns kill people, despite the mantra of the NRA lobby, who am I to argue? montani semper liberi- Let's call "journalism" what it really is. As you said, "things change". "Journalism is no longer the....."
Maybe Will Bunch should think long and hard about his profession and fill in that blank. Mr. Smith
"I suspect those of right-wing persuasion fear the democratization of journalism"
It wasn't the right wing who were complaining about smaller media sites like Breitbart, and tears ago, Drudge. RG
More evidence that there hasn't been any real austerity. Also note how some austerity measures are also tax hikes, which I thought the left supported.
