"to shake hands with the man that many say is defining our weird national moment."--------------Who are these "many"???? Far left bloggers?-----------Michael Moore is "normal" but Glenn Beck is weird? Michael Moore has made 50- 70 million in THE USA- yet- he hates capitalism?- NOW THAT IS WEIRD- BIZARRE EVEN. Everyone (Liberals) hates a winner- and Beck is winning on TV and with his book. look at the NY Times best seller list- what do you see? Conservatives ruling.....

You mean nobody noticed the author of "Tear Down This Myth" in the crowd? Strange.

This si a good anecdote of how, despite Will's obsessive protests, how little clout Beck and Limbaugh actually have over voters. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/opinion/02brooks.html?_r=2&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

RG, I read that column and it was very good but I don't think your interpretation is exactly correct. He said that the numbers of Beck and Limbaugh fanatics are greatly overstated, but that unfortunately their clout is huge because they hold total sway over GOP pols (except, apparently, for Lindsay Graham).

What pols do they hold sway over? And even if they did, the Pubs hold no power, so they can't indirectly influence policy.

Michael Moore sat with Jimmy Carter at the Democratic National Convention- Mike Moore- think about that. No problem for the liberals- he is like them- therefore he is not a radical.

I think Larry the Cable Guy has a book too. Maybe they can tour together as the appeal to the same audience.

Instead of calling us liberals names, could any of you explain why you let Glen Beck define your ideology? Long before I had seen a Michael Moore movie, I realized that the conservatives messed up 9/11, are continuing to ruin health care, and that capitalism is doomed to fail in a post-industrial economy. Therefore, I happen to agree with him. Do you all agree with Beck and everything he says?

TPS, looks like that slowing rate of UE increase you were excited about reversed course. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Stock-futures-pull-back-ahead-apf-2398865446.html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=1&asset=&ccode=

"What pols do they hold sway over? And even if they did, the Pubs hold no power, so they can't indirectly influence policy." Who do you think is the bulk of what's blocking the public option and other aspects of health care reform? As long as they a) stick together and b) pick off one or two chicken-livered Blue Dog Democrats, the "Pubs" will have considerable clout with 40 senators.

Will, do you really believe that Glenn and Rush "hold total sway over GOP pols"? Do you have any evidence whatsoever of that. I'm an R and know and associate with many other Rs and we're not blind followers of Glenn and Rush. Sometimes they have good ideas, sometimes not so good. Does Olberman "hold total sway" over the Ds?
