(Sarah Palin hockey card by Keystone Progress)
Heh...rookie right-winger. Anyway, the big Sarah Palin clusterpuck down at the Wells Fargo Center last night went pretty much as expected, with lots o' booing (I still think back-turning would have been more effective, as the Flyers were able to blast loud music to drown out some of the boos.) Crooks and Liars has the scoop on how everything went down.
So that's the end of that -- except for one thing I found kind of troubling. Parenting is, more so than the presidency as famously described by the current White House occupant, "hard work," and we all make our own choices....but a politician using her young daughter to shield her against booing?
The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee said at an earlier fundraiser that she would stop some of the booing from the rowdy Philadelphia fans by putting her seven year old daughter, Piper in a Flyers jersey. She said, "How dare they boo Piper!"
That's lame -- she goes around posing with shotguns but needs a 7-year-old girl to shield her from a few verbally boisterous hockey fans? If Sarah Palin truly wants to be the first female vice president in American history, she needs to man up, or at least put the "mom" back in "hockey mom."
UPDATE: Even Al Trautwig disapproves!

Will, an Obama supporter was quoted as advocating a stoning, a punishment we more commonly hear is meted out upon women. That's hate speech. If a McCain supporter in Philadelphia was quoted as advocating a lynching, your head might explode, and your editors would certainly not have printed it. But I guess there's a double standard here.... Echo

Re: Philly sport fans booing Gov Palin (with apologies to Lloyd Bentsen); Gov Palin, I know Santa Claus, and you're no Santa Claus. elnorte
Bunch, I challenge you to avoid using the word Palin in your blog for 2 days. Good luck. Bud Fox- I'm happy to see the wingnuts condemning hate speech. At least we're coming together on one issue.
- Oh, Al Trautwig disapproves! I think Ed Snider learned his lesson now. Never, ever cross the Trout. Will, can't you tell Palin was joking? I know you libs have humor deficiency issues, but come on. By the way, I've become a Ken Daneyko fan. jmc
