But then you’ve still got two other aspects of this issue that have to be resolved as well. We need to sit down as Americans and recognize these are God’s children as well. And they need some protection under the law; they need some of our love and compassion. I want to assure you that I’ll enforce the borders first. We’ll solve this immigration problem.

-- Arizona Sen. John McCain, 2007.

Today God's children -- these Arizona high school girls, protesting the looming, draconian anti-immigrant law at the state capitol in Phoenix -- are crying out for help, but John McCain is selling them up the river. You see, he was running for president of the United States when he said those pretty words; now he's running for the hearts and mind of just Arizona Republicans -- and God's children are dead to him.

Courage.

I see your "courage" and raise you "hope" and "change". Everybody loses here.

Anti-immigrant, or anti-illegal-immigrant? Or are you unable to discern? Or am I using the wrong expression? Are they "documentation challenged Americans"?

Will, today God's children, American citizens, peacefully protest our corrupt out-of-control federal government at various demonstrations, crying out for help, but receive contempt and disrespect from our elected officials and a compliant media.

The "courage" to take from others that which you did not earn?

The Arizona Legislature has disgraced this once great state and now it's the laughing stock of the country. This is what right wing rhetoric has done to us. As the pedophile creep Rush Limbaugh once said, "Words mean things". If Janet Napolitano does not veto this ugly thing brown people will have no rights in Arizona, arrested and detained without cause, harassed and dehumanized. Remember the David Bowie song, "This is not America"?

Hey Mr. "Attytood" - I see that you decided to follow your recent anti-tea party hatchet job with an equally distorted view of those opposed to ILLEGAL immigration. That's what happens when you practice the Keith Olbermann-out-of-context type of reporting.

Is Will abetting the illegal activity of illegal immigration? No, of course not. Will is arguing that only certain laws that he approves of should be enforced. It's the "progressive" thing to do.

Will is right, Arizonans. Hear their cries! Grant them help- with bus tickets! Bus tickets for all God's children who are here illegally. Back to where they came. A win-win-win-win situation. Good for God's children by relieving them of their illegal status. Good for the economy. Good for the State of Arizona. Good for America. A substantial investment, true. But one that will pay huge dividends. And then there's the irony that the first word of English that most of them will learn, albeit involuntarily, is the meaning of the word "illegal".

They are God's children. They are also ILLEGAL aliens. Again I ask, what part of that don't you people understand?

I like the bus ticket idea, but instead I think they should be given tickets to a bus that will drop them off in Will's neighborhood. Then they could all catch a ride in to the philly news office, where they can work under the table at a mere fraction of what the current staff makes. Thus, Will's neighborhood would be stabilized, and both the immigration problem and the bankrupt newspaper problem solved. win-win-win!

@Hambone- I stopped listening to Limbaugh back around 1995 so I'll defer to someone like yourself who knows. If Limbaugh really said that "Word mean things", he is a liar. Sometimes words are rendered meaningless through abuse. Take the way 'progressives' have misused the word "reform" where nothing really gets reformed at all. The corporations are still fully in control of the health industry and will continue to bleed the economy dry throughout my lifetime. And take the way they abuse the word "illegal" when they apply it to immigration. They reduce it to meaning "just a little snafu with some silly paperwork that these poor souls shouldn't be burdened with in the first place.", thus the word is rendered meaningless by 'progressives'.

Hilarious. Some poor schmoe who made a dangerous trek across great distance so he could earn enough money to feed his family busting his nuts at some low-paying job, and Attytood's "conservatives" are positively seething with anger. What next? Mayne they'll also get angry at some poor schmoe who's about to lose his house after some hucksters leveraged 30 to 1 to buy bad mortgages that were deceptively marketed to people that listened to experts that told them their houses would continue to increase in value? - Oh. Wait. That's the previous thread. What makes Attytood's "conservatives" such angry, angry people?

georgel, pretend it is illegal to be a tea bagger. Would it be okay for authorities to stop any white person and force him to show his papers, and maybe throw him in jail, just because they think he might be a tea bagger? You are okay with that?
