47 years later, we now know...

POSTED: Monday, November 22, 2010, 11:36 AM

...nothing, unfortunately, and we'll probably never know the truth. I hate that.

Tied up with a story for tomorrow's iPad...just kidding, tomorrow's newspaper, so please identify the real killers of JFK in the space below, and then also discuss whether full body scanners in Dealey Plaza might have prevented the president's murder.

"Was anyone aware of this in the 1972 Presidential Campaign? No because, the anti-war crowd would have taken this to be a minus. How times have changed." Mr. I'm-a-cop-so-I-know-everything shows he knows nothing. McGovern’s service in WWII was *well* known in 1972. The "anti-war crowd" was against *Vietnam* not WWII, Einstein!

"Right Will, With Wallace in the Race, McGovern might have got as many as 20 Electoral Votes." True, as it turned out -- but there was no way of knowing that in May 1972, and of course McGovern hadn't even clinched the nomination yet.

"This from Sirhan's Diary, found in his home, no doubt planted there by Jack Ruby." Good point, which makes you wonder why Nixon's "plumbers" broke into Arthur Bremer's partment after Bremer shot George Wallace, the one man who could have prevented Nixon's re-election (by running again as an independent).

"the California representative asked for justification of its continued existence"........gee why would we want a government agency to justify its existence??? I say just pour some more tax dollars in there - I'm confident they are doing an excellent job.

"Despite publicly promising more transparency and disclosure of the inner workings of Congress, behind closed doors, the GOP leadership has made moves indicating the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) may be targeted for cuts or extinction.

According to an email seen by ABC News, Rep. David Dreier, R-Calif., called the OCE on Friday, Nov. 5, just three days after the midterm elections in which Republicans regained a majority and control of the House. During that phone conversation, ABC's source said, the California representative asked for justification of its continued existence"

So, how is that teabakkking thing working out for ya'?

Hamlet - another quick point. Rosie Grier and Rafer Johnson were working security for RFK that night they were behind RFK when they heard the first shots fired and ran forward. By your 2nd gunman theory they would have had to have run right by the shooter putting a gun to RFK's head to go after Sirhan. Now if RFK was a GOP candidate I guess the left would argue that Rosie and Rafer just went after the first non-white face they saw in the crowd but somehow I'm not seeing Rosie and Rafer doing that.

Mr Cool, that is a overly simplistic explanation of what happened. Now that researchers have had a few years to pour over the ARRB-declassified records a story can be put together. I suggest reading JFK and The Unspeakable by James Douglas. I think it's the best post-ARRB book out so far and reads like a political thriller. I'm not much for assassination books or hare-brained conspiracy theories. And I particularly don't care who actually shot JFK or from what rooftop. I only care about why. This book delves into the why and is very plausible. He was trying to end the Cold War and he was doing it through an extra governmental back channel to the Kremlin. Can you imagine what that looked like to the Cold Warriors of the time?

" RFK was killed by a bullet fired into his head from behind his right ear with the muzzle no further than one inch from his skull" an injury consistant with a shot fired from the front while RFK was turning his head to the left to shake hands with the busboy. And you are wrong about the 13 bullets - 13 bullets were not found. Some people think they hear 13 shots fired on the audio tape other audio experts say it is only 8 - the key is there are only 8 bullets recovered - where did the other 5 go? As to Ceasar - I was referring to William Barry who headed the security for RFK. To believe your conspiracy you have to have Barry and RFK's campaign manager in on the conspiracy - they were the ones who changed the route. You also have to believe that all of the people around RFK were oblivious to the second shooter and while the group tackled Sirhan - they just decided to let the second shooter walk away. The fairy tales are nice but the truth is Oswald killed JFK and Sirhan Sirhan killed RFK

"You're an idiot Hamlet." Perhaps, but I was just repeating what some JFK detail SS officers said. Hey, maybe they lied and JFK set himself up for assassination. You those crazy lefties...

Oswald probably helped forge Obama's birth certificate for George Soros. Alas, we'll never know.

Bird, I’m giving you the facts, it’s not theory, conspiracy or otherwise. RFK was killed by a bullet fired into his head from behind his right ear with the muzzle no further than one inch from his skull (the autopsy doctor said that). Surhan Surhan was never closer than three feet and in front of RFK (all the witnesses said that). 13 bullet and wounds were found and Surhan’s gun held only 8 shots (the police said that). And Thane Caesar was not hand-picked by RFK (his staff said that). Not that any of this matters...

The great loose end in all of this is Jack Ruby. If somebody went through all the trouble to kill the President and the assasin, why let Jack Ruby walk? I don't care how much of a stand up guy he might have been, even stand up guys can blab.

Hamlet - you like you some Kennedy conspiracy theories don't you. So RFK was "eliminated" by his own hand picked security guards, a guy from ABC news, and a UAW president?? I never did trust that Rosey Grier. (BTW RFK even after California was trailing HHH is the delegate count.)

"This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist." - Dwight David Eisenhower, 1961

Keep deleting my comments, I don't care. Anyway, “I was one of the most powerful Senators in the U.S…” Funny you mention that, Bird. There was such a man. He knew he had to become president to face up to the forces his brother had fought and lost to – well, his brother did manage to stop the nuclear war they tried to start in October 1962. Anyway, this man won a big primary that pretty much showed he was unstoppable. That night he thanked a large crowd of supporters and walked into the hotel pantry where he was shot behind the right ear at point-blank range by a lone nut assassin who fired at him from the front at a distance of three or more feet (and 13 shots were fired from the LNA's gun that held only eight bullets - pretty neat trick!)

It was a military-industrial complex coup d'etat. Johnson was much more amenable to escalation and direct involvement in Vietnam; Kennedy was vehemently opposed to escalation. Do you know how much money the M-I complex made in that war?

"There were no Secret Service Agents on the Presidential Limo, because the President ordered them two days before in Florida." Interviews with JFK SS agents reveled that Kennedy was an easy-going guy who *never* interfered with his SS detail. And if JFK had really ordered the security stripping of his detail why was it not done in Houston, or Miami, but only in Dallas? That, “Kennedy ordered them away from the limo” cover story is obvious bull – but then who cares? Tom Hanks is about to convince another generation to “move along, nothing to see here” and “don’t question military spending, phony wars, or destruction of your civil liberties” there are communi, er, terrorists under you bed!

I read a theory once that it was Lee Harvey Oswald that killed Kennedy. I thought the idea was crazy but then I figure if I were Attorney General of the U.S. or if I was one of the most powerful Senators in the U.S. for 20+ years and somebody had killed my brother I would d@mn sure find out who and make them pay.

I believe it was Organized Crime, Havana Casinos, LBJ, and Hoover. Corruption and Money goes a long way up the line. We'll never really know the truth. Oswald was just a hired gun.I just remember that day. I was 8 years old,a Nation in shock was a really weird feeling at the time. I could not comprehend the scope of what happened.

Of course you won’t let this comment go either, but the SS agent in the picture was not on or by the presidential limo at the time of the shootings (none of them were – for the first and last time in SS history) he was from the car behind Kennedy. The President had no protection at all in Dealey Plaza (watch the Zapruder film if you don’t believe me). Now, back to your regularly scheduled media propaganda…

According to the 'Watchmen' movie, it was the Comedian behind the grassy knoll. That theory is as good as any, I guess.
