I was shocked when she said essentially the same thing about retaliation to Iran during the ABC debate last week. Apparently she means it. That ought to be enough to persuade antiwar voters to swing to Obama--at least if they are paying attention.
The Russians could be deterred because they could be counted on to act rationally. There is no such luxury with the Iranians. The chance that an attack would take the form of an overt launch from Iranian territory to strike Isreal is no more likely than terrorists using an ICBM to launch one at us. For us to launch a nuclear counterstrike, credibility will be everything. That would leave an almost inevitable all out conventional war with Iran. I'm all in favor of ensuring the safety and integrity of Isreal, but I don't think candidates should be making those commitments.

We can now rest easy knowing that Hillary wouldn't hesitate to vaporize innocent children, and with them, the world economic system to boot! Yee haw!
And if thatr happens, we'll continue down the path of our destruction. McCain will continue this nonsensical occupation of Iraq at a cost of a few bil a month, and hundreds of lost lives. That will stretch our military to the breaking point (keep ignoring the troop suicide rates, the mental health issues of our troops, the burden to care for wounded, the rise of felons accepted into the military), leaving us unable to handle any future REAL threats. Imperialism/colonialism worked awesome for the Soviet Union, the British and French empires, etc. But heck, we'll get a gas tax holiday, that will just reduce government revenues and further push our country into debt.
A President Hillary won't have to do a thing if Iran attacks Israel. The Israelis will be mopping it up by the time her finger gets to the button.
However, If I was forced to choose the Democratic candidate who would be most likely to do the right thing in response to Iranian shenanigans, it would be Hillary.
Sorry, but Israel is not worth a nuclear war. But no politician can say that without being called anti-Semitic (which is an interesting term in this context as Arabs are also Semites...). We cannot admit that Israel as a political state has been a negative for the US. The Jewish people have been persecuted for centuries, and that is wrong beyond words. But that does not change the fact that the political state of Israel owes its existence to European colonial policy (it exists as a result of the European breakup of the Ottoman Empire) and has no modern legitimate roots. Yes, there was an Israel two thousand years ago - but nowhere else do we insist that the world political map be redrawn to reflect ancient times. Its no different than insisting everyone but Native Americans better get back in the boats and go back to the old country (of course Native Americans might not find that a bad idea...)!

i think she`s just trying to convince the other Middle-East countries that we`ll protect them...as a way to keep them from building their own nukes...probably just a bluff...never meant to be serious...but still there as an option just in case...what ever the case, she`s got 4x as many vets/military experts backing her foreign policies as well as her plans to bring the troops home within 60 days...if it`s all good enough for them to trust her on, it`s good enough for me!
Of course we would respond if Iran attacked Isreal (or anyone of our allies). Hopefully counter intelligence are working behind the scenes(secretly) to make sure Iran doesn't attack. Hilary's words are more proof that's she's and empty suit(skirt?). Puffing out your chest and saying stuff like this doesn't help the situation. You better believe the Iranians KNOW we will respond and despite all the muslim and islamic rhetoric, they don't want nukes dropped in their yard.
