Wrapping up the Reebok Breakout Challenge

It's a wrap. The four-day Reebok Breakout Challenge came to a close today at Philadelphia University. Roughly 120 high school prospects showed their skills in front of college scouts and coaches as they played two games a day and received coaching through training sessions.

Here's how the local products fared:

Brandon Austin, Junior, PG, Imhotep – Austin didn't stand out at the camp, averaging fewer than five points a game and also missed at least three games. In JN14's last game of the camp, Austin turned in his top performance as he grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and scored six points.

Shep Garner III, Sophomore, SG, Roman Catholic – Don't make the mistake of saying he's from Philadelphia, he'll be quick to remind you he's from Chester. He turned in one of the top performances of a local player as he averaged 15 points per game and seems on the cusp of a breakout season this fall. Rysheed Jordan, Junior, PG, Vaux – Jordan started the camp on the same team with close friend Miles Overton, as the two stressed their similar styles and work ethics. But, after teams were forced to re-configure due to player's leaving camp, Jordan landed on JN14 alongside Brandon Austin. The two Public League players turned in two of their best performances together, as Jordan scored 10 points and 12 points in the team's two Saturday games.

Jordan had said he felt the pressure of the college coaches but showed on Thursday that he was able to cope with it, as he hit four clutch foul shots in the final minute of his team's win.

Miles Overton, Junior, G, St. Joe's Prep – Played solid the first day and seemed to fade as the camp progressed. Overton comes from a strong basketball pedigree and has been playing tough, playground ball with the Chosen League all summer. Horace Spencer III, Freshman, PF, William Tennant – With all the hype that surrounds Spencer, it's hard to remember he's only 14-years old. The six-foot-eight freshman showed what he could do in his last game of camp, now we'll have to see what he can do when takes the floor in a high school game for the first time this fall.

Daiquan Walker, Senior, G, Constitution – The swift footed guard yearns for isolations, as he can take you to the hole with a bevy of fancy moves. But, Walker also came to Philadelphia Univeristy to further his shot development. He averaged around six points a game and his assists hovered near three, but he played on a crowded JWalls team.
