Reebok Breakout Challenge Day Four

Here are brief highlights from the fourth and final day of the Reebok Breakout Challenge at Philadelphia University.

Friars 80, Wizards 55 – William Tennant freshman forward Horace Spencer III scored 15 points and St. Joe's Prep junior guard Miles Overton grabbed eight rebounds as the Friars rolled to the win. Jerome Frink, a senior power forward from Jersey City, dropped a game high 21 points.

After about ten players had to leave the showcase due to prior commitments, the camp combined some teams together. The new alignment allowed for Spencer to be joined by St. Joe's Prep junior guard Miles Overton, who had played on the Wildcats before switching to the Friars.

Zigs 89, JWalls 73 – Mike Aaman (Raritan) scored 23 points and Larry Lewis (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored 20 but the JWalls were unable to erase an 18-point halftime deficit. Senior point guard Tariq Carey, from Newark, led the Zigs with 19 points and five rebounds.

Powerade 75, JN14 73 – Mike Young grabbed ten rebounds and Selden Hagigal scored 17 points to lead Powerade to the comeback victory. Young, a 6'9 center from Paterson, NJ, grabbed nine rebounds on the defensive end.

Classics 77, Slashes 69 – Senior guard CJ Jones from Chicago scored 15 points and junior point guard Josh Newkirk scored a game-high 18 points to pace the Classics.

Roman Catholic sophomore guard Shep Garner III dropped 15 points and added four rebounds. Mike Kobani from Maryland scored 16 points and added ten rebounds, as the 6'8 junior grabbed five boards at each end of the floor.

Wizards 92, Rams 81 – Tony Bagtas and Malcolm Hill each scored 19 points to lead the Wizards, who pulled away in the third quarter. Bagtas, a junior point guard from Georgia, had four steals and two assists.

Powerade 88, Zigs 77 – Patterson, NJ product Mike Young scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while shooting 13 for 16 from the floor.

Slashes 81, JWalls 79 – Roman Catholic sophomore guard Shep Garner III dropped a team-high 17 points to lead the Slashes as he hit three three-pointers. Chicago senior Aaric Armstead scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for the Slashes.

Classics 94, Footlocker 90 – Josh Newkirk continued his fantastic camp as he scored 21 points on 10-12 shooting to lead the Classics. The junior point guard grabbed three rebounds and dished out one assist.

JN14 92, Rams 49 – Vaux's Rysheed Jordan scored 12 points, hit a three and grabbed six rebounds to pace JN14. Roddy Peters led the team with 29 points on 13 for 17 shooting.
