Maglio opening an Italian specialty shop

Maglio Fresh Foods, the South Philly sausage specialist, plans to convert part of its building into a retail specialty shop selling all manner of Italian foods.

Though details are few at this point, the family - in the business since the close of World War II - had extra space in its building at 3632 S. Third St.

The younger generation of the family feels that the location - near the old Food Distribution Center below Pattison Avenue and just a long forward pass from Lincoln Financial Field - would be convenient to tail-gaters.

They expect to open in late summer or early fall.
