Dylan Cozens among four Phillies minor league players honored

Lehigh Valley outfielder Dylan Cozens, who rebounded from a difficult first month, was among four Phillies minor leaguers honored for their work in the month of May.

Cozens and Reading second baseman Scott Kingery were named Phillies minor league co-hitters of the month. Lehigh Valley righthander Tom Eshelman was pitcher of the month and Reading outfielder Zach Coppola was named defender of the month.

After batting .136 with 4 home runs and 15 RBIs in April, Cozens, 23, took off in May when he batted .330 (34 for 103) with four doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 26 RBIs and a 1.075 OPS.

Kingery, 23, batted .325 (41 for 126) with seven doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, 13 RBIs, eight stolen bases, 30 runs scored in 30 games and a 1.055 OPS.

The 22-year-old Eshelman went 4-0 with a 1.38 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in six starts between Reading and Lehigh Valley.

Coppola, 23, made just one error in 26 games in May, all for Clearwater. He started at least five games at each outfield spot at Clearwater before a recent promotion to Reading.
