Two men who have children with the same woman stabbed each other during a confrontation at an Upper Darby apartment complex last night, according to police.

Now, both men are in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and both have warrants lodged against them for their arrests, said Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

Around 8 p.m., Hampton Harte, 23, of Lansdowne, went to his ex-girlfriend's home at the Shirley Court Apartments on Bradford Road near Long Lane to drop off a child the former couple share custody of, police said.

Harte's ex's current boyfriend, William Jarwood, 23, allegedly came to the door instead and argued with Harte about the woman, who is now pregnant with Jarwood's child, Chitwood said.

The argument escalated into a physical altercation and Jarwood grabbed a knife from the apartment and stabbed Harte in his chest and thigh, according to police. In turn, Harte pulled his own knife out and stabbed Jarwood in the chest and arm, police said.

Both Harte and Jarwood took off running. Harte was found three blocks away from the scene and Jarwood was found on the steps of the apartment building, police said. The woman was found inside of the apartment with her child, both of whom were unharmed.

Both men are in critical condition at HUP and are expected to be charged with attempted murder, recklessly endangering another person, aggravated assault and related offenses if and when they recover, Chitwood said.
