Philly Orch's PopUp posts 'Live Notes,' too

Curious about the "Live Notes" app which enhances some Philadelphia Orchestra performances? It's being showcased at Thursday's free PopUp" performance.

Curious about the Philadelphia Orchestra's "Live Notes" app, which invites concert goers to read about the music being played, in perfect synchronization (of course) with the live performance?

This Thursday at 6:30 p.m., the Orchestra will be working the app as part of a free PopUp concert at the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall, inviting  ticketholders to scan along (on their smart phone) with  performances of Sibelius'  most famous "Finlandia" and Aaron Copland's signature "Appalachian Spring."

Also working the interactive angle, a  pre-show 5:30 p.m. event called Conduct Us will invite concertgoers to wave a baton (or their hands) at  the Orchestra's string section in the Kimmel's lobby. The best will then honored with an on-stage conducting opp at the end of the evening concert.

And somewhere in the night, Orchestra  CEO Allison Vulgamore  will be popping news of expanded "community and educational initiatives."

Free tickets for the party went up for grabs at 10 a.m. this morning at philorch.org.
