Football: Garlick transferring to St. Joe's Prep

Junior quarterback Tom Garlick, a two-year starter for defending PIAA Class AAA state champion Archbishop Wood, is transferring to St. Joseph's Prep, according to multiple sources.

Last season, Garlick helped lead the Vikings to a 13-2 record and a 22-10 win over Harrisburg's Bishop McDevitt in the state final.

In training camp, the 6-foot-4, 185-pounder lost a battle for the starting position with fellow junior Anthony Russo.

Garlick is expected to start school at St. Joe's Prep on Thursday, according to sources.

The Hawks' starting QB is senior Jack Clements, who performed well after throwing an early interception in Sunday's 28-27 win over Chicago's Mount Carmel at Toyota Park.
