Football: St. Joe's Prep's Reid adds offer from Alabama

St. Joseph's Prep defensive back John Reid, a member of the the Class of 2015, picked up a scholarship offer Wednesday from Alabama.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder, an Inquirer first-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection in 2013, impressed Alabama coach Nick Saban in a three-day visit to Tuscaloosa last summer.

Reid has offers from top-flight programs across the country, including Boston College, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, and West Virginia.

Last season, as a multipurpose performer, Reid helped the Hawks go 12-3 and claim the PIAA Class AAAA state championship.
