Basketball: Kyle Green decides on St. Anselm

By Phil Anastasia

Kyle Green, a 2013 Camden Catholic graduate who signed with Temple but never played for the Owls, has decided to continue his academic and athletic career at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.

Green, a first-team All-South Jersey selection in 2013 who finished his career as Camden Catholic's all-time leading scorer, said he will enroll at St. Anselm in September and will have four full years to pursue his collegiate career.

"It's a great school and I see myself fitting in there for the next four years," Green said Sunday afternoon.

Green said he left Temple in August for "family and personal reasons."

He said he considered several other programs but because he had signed a national letter of intent with Temple he would have been forced to sit out a season if he enrolled in an NCAA Division I program.

St. Anselm is a Division 2 program.

Former Cherry Hill East star Chris Santo, who started his career at the University of Vermont, is a junior forward for St. Anselm.

"Chris told me nothing but great things about the school and the program," Green said of Santo.

Green averaged 18.3 points as a senior for Camden Catholic. He finished his career with 1,734 points.

Green said the last year has "been hectic" but that he looks forward to resuming his career.

"They play a lot lik Camden Catholic," Green said of St. Anselm. "They have a great coaching staff, great kids on the team. The school is very challenging academically so I think it's going to be a great situation for me."
