Basketball: Pitman vs. Life Center in showcase at Sterling

Pitman will face Life Center Academy in a showcase boys' basketball event Saturday at Sterling High School.

Pitman (17-6) features junior forward Tim Delaney, a Villanova recruit, as well as senior swingman Eric Stafford, a Lafayette recruit, and senior guard Darnell Foreman.

Life Center,an independent team based in Burlington Township, features 7-foot Trayvon Reed, a Maryland recruit, along with juniors Malik Ellison -- the son of coach Pervis Ellison, the former Louisville and NBA player -- and Ned Ogomesim, who spend his first two years at Rancocas Valley.

Pitman and Life Center will tip at around 12:30 p.m.

Sterling will play a Cape-Atlantic League foe in the first game at 11 a.m.

Sterling will face Wildwood Catholic if the Crusaders lose to Holy Spirit in the semifinals of the CAL tournament Thursday night at Hammonton.

If Wildwood Catholic beats Holy Spirit and advances to the CAL title game Saturday at 2 at Stockton, then Sterling likey will face Holy Spirit or another CAL team, according to Sterling coach and showcase organizer Rob Atene.
