Basketball: Paul VI's Risse on verge of 1,000 points

By Phil Anastasia

Paul VI senior Matt Risse likely will reach the 1,000-point plateau in Tuesday night's game vs. Woodrow Wilson.

Risse, a 6-foot-5 forward, will enter the game with 997 career points.

Risse has been a three-year starter for the Eagles, the No. 1 team in The Inquirer Top 10.

Paul VI senior swingman Jay Howard also is a three-year starter and has reached the 1,000-point mark.

Paul VI is 67-9 in the last three seasons, including a 15-1 mark this season.

The Eagles play Woodrow Wilson Tuesday night, then face Olympic National rival Bishop Eustace on Thursday and national power St. Anthony of Jersey City on Sunday at 5 p.m. in the last game of the Cherry Hill East Invitational.
