Football: Imhotep's Barge pledges to Rhode Island

Imhotep Charter senior defensive tackle Tyrone Barge, who last season helped the Panthers go 12-3 and advance to the PIAA Class AA state championship game, has committed to play at Rhode Island.

"I really like the campus, and I like the staff that the new coach [Jim Fleming, the former defensive coordinator at Central Florida] has put together," the 6-foot-1, 270-pounder said. "They're excited to get things going."

Barge also considered scholarship offers from Delaware State and New Hampshire, among others. He plans to major in criminal justice.
