Gill to see first action as Flyer

NEWARK, NJ -- Defenseman Hal Gill, who signed as a free agent with the Flyers on Oct. 1, will make his first appearance in tonight's game at the Prudential Center against the New Jersey Devils.

Gill, 38, has played in 1,102 regular season NHL games. Coach Craig Berube said Gill would be paired with Andrej Meszaros.

The two defensemen not dressing are Erik Gustafsson and Luke Schenn.

"I just wanted to shake it up," Berube said before tonight's game.

The 6-foot-7, 243-pound Gill is naturally happy to be getting a chance after being a spectator the first 12 games.

"As a teammate you want to help them win and that is the hard part of sitting out and not being a part of it," Gill said. "I am excited to get out there and do whatever I can to help."
