Central Bucks South's Josh Adams, an electrifying junior tailback and Division I-A prospect, is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in last Friday's loss to Suburban One League Continental Conference loss to North Penn.

Titans coach Dave Rackovan received official word of the feared diagnosis Wednesday morning.

"It's really a shame," he said. He's a great kid, a great football player. But he'll be back and he'll be better than ever. He has a strong resolve."

The injury occurred when Adams was tackled near the sideline late in the third quarter of the 35-28 home loss to North Penn. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder visited a medical specialist Tuesday evening.

Last season, while helping C.B. South to a 10-2 record and the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA quarterfinals, Adams carried 257 times for 2,085 yards and 28 touchdowns. He was an Inquirer first-team all-Southeastern Pennsylvania selection.

Rackovan said he expects Dion Clifton, a 5-9, 160-pound junior and transfer from Archbishop Wood, to take over as the Titans' go-to ballcarrier.

How will the Titans respond to the loss of their star player?

"That's to be determined," Rackovan said. "Our kids have a big challenge ahead of them. We have to get better at each position."

Adams has scholarship offers from Boston College, Penn State, Notre Dame and Stanford, among others.
