Funeral services set for longtime football coach John Quinn

Funeral services for longtime and respected Catholic League football coach John Quinn, who died Sunday at the age of 79, have been set.

A burial mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road in Bensalem.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Quinn's life, to be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road in Philadelphia, and again Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Katherine.

Quinn made the first of three head-coaching stops at Archbishop Ryan in the late 1960s. In 1988, in his last stint, he guided the Raiders to a 10-2 record and the Catholic League championship.

He was also in charge at three other Catholic League schools: Roman Catholic, North Catholic, and Conwell-Egan.

Quinn played quarterback at North Catholic and Notre Dame.
