Revere, Howard to participate in Instructional League

Center fielder Ben Revere and first baseman Ryan Howard won't be playing for the Phillies the rest of this season but both will participate in the Florida Instructional League as they come back from injuries.

Howard had left knee surgery on July 10. Revere broke his right foot on July 13.

Howard has been down in Clearwater rehabbing his injury and Revere will go down there after the current home stand ends with Thursday's game against the San Diego Padres.

"We want them to have some games played and a peace of mind and pass the test with everybody, with the organization that they are doing everything on the baseball field to play and game and now they go into their off-season and go about their business and do their normal routines, knowing in the spring they are good to go." Phillies interim manager Ryne Sandberg said of Revere and Howard.

Revere said that he is feeling better, and has done some light jogging.

"There is a little still a little bit of soreness," Revere said. "It's a little bit, but nothing too serious like before."
