Game 127: Bernadina gets his first Phillies start
Phillies interim manager Ryne Sandberg said everybody would get a chance and he is proving that by giving newcomer Roger Bernadina his first start in tonight's series finale at Citizens Bank Park against the Colorado Rockies.
Bernadina was signed as a free agent on Wednesday after being released on Monday by the Washington Nationals.
He will start in center field tonight and hit eighth. Bernadina flew out to right as a pinch hitter for Cliff Lee in his Phillies first at-bat during Wednesday's 4-3 win over Colorado
With Washington, he batted .178 in 152 at-bats with a .517 OPS.
The 29-year-old Bernadina is looking to regain the form of 2012 when he hit .291 with five home runs and 25 RBIs in 227 at-bats.
The Phillies are now 3-3 under Sandberg. Here is the their lineup.
