Restoration of football field at 11th & Cecil B. Moore

Here is a press release regarding the renovation of the football field at 11th and Cecil B. Moore:

The renovation is part of a partnership between the City of Philadelphia, St. Joseph's Prep, Philadelphia Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and the Philadelphia Eagles. The field is the home of the Blackhawks football team, the 2010 Pop Warner National football champions.

The grass football field will be replaced with new artificial turf, which will encompass the entire playing surface, including the baseball field in the Southeast corner of the lot. New field goal posts and a scoreboard will be installed, as well as new paving, fencing, and landscaping. The restrooms and lockers rooms will be renovated

City officials and community members will gather Tuesday morning for a brief speaking program, which will be preceded and succeeded by a football clinic and cheerleading performance from the St. Joe's Prep students and youth from the Blackhawks Athletic Club.
