Mercer County scored six runs in its last three at-bats and advanced to the Carpenter Cup Classic baseball final with an 8-6 triumph Tuesday over neighboring Jersey Shore.

After it was postponed Monday because of rain, the contest was resumed, with Mercer County leading by 2-1, in the top of the seventh inning.

A three-run ninth was highlighted by an RBI double to right-center from Nick Kagel (Lawrence) and a left-side, RBI single from John Mastrangelo (Steinert). Jim Peto (Hightstown) opened the frame with a double to right-center.

Dylan Malinosky (Hightstown) worked 1 1/3 innings in relief while earning the victory. He retired Jersey Shore, which posted three runs in the eighth to go ahead by 6-5, in order in the ninth.
