Baseball: Golden Bears fall in state final

WEST YORK 2, UPPER MORELAND 1

STATE COLLEGE - Held to four hits and a first-inning run, Upper Moreland bowed to District 3's West York, 2-1, Friday afternoon in the PIAA Class AAA state baseball final at Penn State's Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

With the aid of a catcher's-interference call, the Bulldogs (21-8) scored both of their runs in the bottom of the second. The deciding marker came on a squeeze-bunt play.

Junior righthander Eddie Decker went the distance for the Golden Bears (21-5), allowing eight hits while walking two.

In the first, after drawing a one-out walk, Upper Moreland's Robert Knox moved to third base on Charlie Hooker's double, and scored on Pat Driscoll's groundout.
