Phillies place Lannan on DL

The Phillies have placed left-hander John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee.

Lannan suffered the injury during Wednesday's 11-2 loss at Cincinnati to the Reds. He allowed six earned runs on eight hits in 1 2/3 innings against the Reds after pitching well in his first two starts, when he had a 2.77 ERA.

A roster replacement will be made tomorrow. Initial speculation was that it would be Lehigh Valley left-hander Adam Morgan, who pitched this afternoon, allowing one earned run in five innings against Pawtucket.

However, the Phillies would need somebody to replace Lannan on Monday against visiting Pittsburgh and if it were Morgan, he wouldn't be pitching on full rest.
