Boys' Basketball: Kelly let go at Cardinal O'Hara

Tim Kelly has been let go as the Cardinal O'Hara boys' basketball coach after five seasons.

"They said they didn't like the way the program was going," he said. "It kind of came out of nowehere, because I didn't get a lot of feedback in the time I was there."

Kelly, a 1983 graduate of O'Hara, posted a 34-46 overall record. The Lions went 8-14 overall and 2-11 in the Catholic League in the recently completed season.

"I think it was just a decision that we needed to go in a different direction," O'Hara athletic director Steve Langley said.

O'Hara went 13-11 in 2011-12, losing to eventual champion Neumann-Goretti in the Catholic League playoffs.

"I love the game," Kelly, 47, said. "I didn't get into coaching for me or any personal accomplishments. I did it to give back to O'Hara and help the kids have a great experience."
