Football: Haddon Twp.'s Wade to Elon

Haddon Twp. senior LB Connor Wade said Monday night he was likely to sign with Elon on Wednesday.

The 6-0, 210-pound Wade led Haddon Twp. to a 6-4 record last season. The Hawks won five of their final seven games.

Wade visited Elon, which is located in North Carolina, on the last weekend in January.

"It really opened my eyes," Wade said of his visit. "It's the most beautiful campus ever. I really like the football program, the coaches and the players. I just had a good feeling about it.

"The people down there are great. What they say about Southern hospitality, that's the real deal."

Elon is a Division I program that competes at the FCS (formerly 1-AA level). The school is in the Southern Conference with Georgia Southern, Appalachian State and Citadel, among other programs.

Elon opens next season with Georgia Tech.

Wade said h was recruited to play linebacker. He also has offers from Bryant and Bentley.
