Sting sets Borgata gigs

Who has the biggest name announced to date for summer 2013? Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, where on June 13 and 14, mono-monikered music man Sting will headline the Event Center.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Feb. 16 for Der Stingle's Big B gigs (if you want a head start, join his fan club, whose members can score ducats  beginning 10 a.m. Feb. 13). No ticket-price info has been released, but it's probably safe to assume at least some seats will top $100 (not including taxes and the ever-popular service fees).

The Borgata dates are part of the second leg of Sting's "Back to Bass" tour which commenced last year. It is so named because unlike on recent road trips, the catch-throated Brit megastar plays bass guitar, the instrument he wielded during his 1980s run as the top cop in The Police.

Don Henley must have really enjoyed himself when The Eagles performed at Revel over Labor Day weekend. The singer-drummer is back at the luxe adult playpen for a solo gig Friday.

Cho must go on

Comic Margaret Cho is so edgy, it's a wonder her clothes don't rip. She'll be offering her unstinting views of life, love and the human condition Saturday at Tropicana Atlantic City. Warning: You must be at least 18 to sit in the first 10 rows; those 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

VFCR rolls dice on higher odds

Beginning Friday, Valley Forge Casino-Resort in King of Prussia will offer 10X odds at the craps tables.

Speaking of entertainers from Eastern Europe performing at Revel, "Dancing With the Stars" stalwart Karina Smirnoff, a native of The Ukraine, will be doing the burlesque thing Feb. 15 at Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly.

Smirnoff, who has six "DWTS" seasons under her Danskin, will dance to the strains of a jazz trio during her Royal Jelly gig.

'Savage' Super Sunday

While virtually every casino in AyCee and Pennsylvania are welcoming football fans to watch Super Bowl XLVII, only Tropicana Atlantic City has devised something for women to do Sunday evening while their guys are rooting on the San Francisco 49ers or Baltimore Ravens.

Sunday night, Boogie Nights, the '70s-and-'80s-themed disco inside the Trop, is hosting a special performance by the Savage Men  troupe of impossibly buff male dancers. The crew of strippers usually performs Saturdays at the club.

It certainly looks like Revel is getting serious about its casino marketing strategies. Earlier this week, the mega-resort announced two bookings aimed at the usually lucrative (in a gambling sense) ethnic markets.

First up are Sunidhi Chauhan and Ali Zafar, two of the biggest stars in the Bollywood firmament. The pair of musical stars hit Ovation Hall April 6. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, although time and ticket info was not yet available Thursday afternoon.

On June 1, Russian pop star Elena Vaenga, who boasts 6 Russian equivalents of the Grammy Award, hits the Ovation Hall boards. The folk-rocker's popularity stateside is such that in 2011, she sold out New York's Madison Square Garden.
