Basketball: Delsea's Elleby likely out for regular season

By Phil Anastasia

Delsea senior forward Cedric Elleby likely will miss the rest of the regular season with a broken tibia in his right leg.

Elleby, who averaged 18.2 points, sustained the injury in a loss to Shawnee on Saturday.

Delsea coach Tom Freeman said Elleby would be in a cast for three weeks. Freeman said the timetable for Elleby's return is uncertain.

"We hope to have him back for the playoffs," Freeman said.

The 6-2 Elleby is one of South Jersey's most productive players. He scored in double figures in every game before his injury and went for 21 points with 20 rebounds in a 67-49 victory over Haddonfield, the No. 10 team in the Inquirer Top 10, on Jan. 5.
