Baseball: Harriton's Rosenberg selected to All-American squad

Here's a press release on Harriton High junior outfielder Jake Rosenberg's selection to the Power Showcase All-American baseball squad.

The POWER SHOWCASE has announced that Outfield Prospect, Jake Rosenberg, from Ardmore, PA (Harriton H.S. Bryn Mawr, PA) has been named to the 2012 POWER SHOWCASE All-American Baseball Team. Jake will proudly represent Pennsylvania in both the home run derby and the Babe Ruth Classic. December 27-30 in Miami, FL at the new Marlins Stadium, home of the Florida Marlins.

Players were selected by POWER SHOWCASE based on their abilities, power, scout references and high school and showcase tournament performance. In his sophomore year, Rosenberg hit .500 (.683 OBP) with 7 doubles, 4 triples and 17 runs and 25 RBI in 20 total games. He was voted First Team All Central League, Second Team All State and First Team All Main Line. Rosenberg was one of a handful of Sophomores selected to the Carpenter Cup, Philadelphia's top high school all star game sponsored by the Philadelphia Phillies. Rosenberg also was a starter on the Harriton boys Varsity Basketball Team where he has played since he was a Fresman. A very good student academically, Rosenberg is currently sorting through all of his college baseball opportunities.

"Jake is one of those rare kids," stated Scott Kurzinsky, head baseball coach at Harriton High School. "He's the total package. He gets it done in the classroom, on the athletic field and is a kid of very high character. He's a very special athlete that has a bright, bright future ahead of him."

Rosenberg plays for the Chester County Crawdads travel team during the summer, coached by Jon Rubin and Frank Cooney. This past summer Rosenberg played in showcase tournaments across the Eastern United States including the 16u WWBA National Championship in East Cobb, GA.

"Jake brings tremendous athleticism to the baseball field. He is a versatile player with fast hands that can hit for power and average, runs the bases well and is very strong defensively. He has a strong knowledge of the game. More importantly, he is extremely respectful, very coachable, and well liked by his teammates. It has been a pleasure watching him develop into an outstanding player and person over the last several years. I have no doubt he will continue to excel in baseball and in life," said Crawdads Head Coach, Jon Rubin.

As part of the POWER SHOWCASE event, Rosenberg will also compete in the Seventh Annual POWER SHOWCASE International High School Home Run Derby – Home Runs for Help. The participants will receive a total of 25 outs. The 25 outs will be broken into two rounds. The players will use both metal and wood bats. The first 10 outs are with wood and then the last 15 with metal. The top five competitors will advance to the Championship Round. The event will be broadcast on the internet.

"Being selected for the POWERSHOWCASE team and Home Run Derby and to play in the Babe Ruth Classic is going to be a great week of baseball and a real honor," said Rosenberg. "I am looking forward to competing with and against all of the great high school baseball players from across the United States."
