Football: Coatesville 63, Neshaminy 28

Coatesville's quick-striking, speed-laden offense was way too much for Neshaminy's usually staunch defense.

The No. 9-seeded Red Raiders posted five of their nine touchdowns in the first half, totaled 515 yards of offense, and emphatically ousted the No. 13 Redskins, 63-28, Friday night in a PIAA District 1 Class AAAA semifinal playoff.

Quarterback Emmitt Hunt, halfback Daquan Worley, and wideouts Chris Jones and Dre[CQ] Boggs did the bulk of the damage for the explosive hosts.

Hunt completed 12 of 14 passes for 313 yards and four TDs; Worley rushed for 179 yards and three scores on 17 attempts; and Jones and Boggs combined for four receiving TDs.

Coatesville moved to within a victory of its first district title since 1992.

Next Friday, at a site and time to be determined, the Red Raiders (11-2) will try for top honors against the winner of Saturday's semifinal between No. 7 Spring-Ford (11-2) and No. 3 Pennridge (12-1).

In the first half, Hunt hit on 7 of 9 throws for 212 yards and three TDs. His 59-yard connection with Jones, who also scored on a 54-yard punt return, put Coatesville in front, 28-7, midway through the second quarter.

Senior tailback Nate Hall kept Neshaminy (9-4) in the game for 2 1/2 quarters. The 5-foot-5, 160-pounder carried 26 times for 217 yards and four TDs.

Coatesville led, 35-14, at intermission. With scoring bursts of 54 and 4 yards from Hall, the Redskins closed the gap to seven midway through the third frame.

But the Red Raiders again responded quickly. Hunt's 60-yard toss to Jones made it 42-28. Soon after, Jones' 32-yard punt return set up Worley's third score of the night.

With Hall leading the way, Neshaminy, which was seeking its first district crown since 2004 and third overall, netted 275 rushing yards on 42 attempts.

Coatesville's defense was led by linebackers Tyler Burke and Steve Pawling, and linemen Mike Boykin, Joe Phillips and Dylan Morgan.

With just over two minutes to play, cornerback Vinnie Williams' 43-yard interception return closed the scoring.
