Coworking giant WeWork to open 4th Philly branch at former Stock Exchange

WeWork is opening its fourth and largest Philadelphia coworking facility in the recently renovated 1900 Market St. office building in Center City.

The New York-based coworking giant plans to operate about 55,000 square feet of shared office space on the top floor of the eight-story building formerly known as the Stock Exchange, spokeswoman Hillary Klein said in an email Wednesday.

The company's next-biggest Philadelphia location is its 40,000-square-foot space on the 19th and 20th floors of 1601 Market St. It also operates facilities in the former Schmidt's brewery building in Northern Liberties and at 1430 Walnut St., a retail building that also accommodates a Cheesecake Factory restaurant.

The 1900 Market St. location will open by the end of March, Klein said. The building, owned by Brandywine Realty Trust of Radnor, is anchored by Independence Blue Cross's AmeriHealth Administrators subsidiary.
