The 2007 Student Citizenship Award Winners with Brian Tierney, Publisher, center left, and Bill Marimow, Philadelphia Inquirer Editor, center right.
Since 1829, The Philadelphia Inquirer has reported on the contributions of outstanding citizens.
The Inquirer Student Citizenship Awards, created to both honor deserving students and encourage others, recognizes outstanding high school seniors throughout the region who actively participate in our community’s civic life.
Each year, schools in Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Camden, Gloucester and Burlington counties select one senior who significantly demonstrates the qualities of civic or community contribution, good scholarship and school participation.
This year’s ceremony was held at the National Constitution Center on November 8, 2007.

The experts who determine the Emmy nominations are referred to as "blue-ribbon panels." I suspect this is because the selection process entails tying a colorful sash over one's eyes before choosing.
MIAMI - A sloppy game that at times resembled beer-league softball ended with good baseball theater today.
