Afghanistan: The Forgotten War

Audio Interview | Sgt. Erik Simpson

Veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. Denver, Colo.

"I got married when I got back from Iraq. I've been married two years. I've only seen my wife about eight months in that time. It's kind of getting old. With today's military, you're planning on being deployed every other year. I don't want to do that. I'm really close to my wife. This is tough on us."

Audio: "I'm what you'd call a 9/11 soldier ..."

Sgt. Erik Simpson, 27, joined the Army three years ago and has served in Iraq as well as Afghanistan. He plans to complete his duty in March and rejoin his wife.
