Afghanistan: The Forgotten War
Audio Interview | Pfc. Chase Williams
Infantryman. Bucks County.
"I wasted 300 rounds, but got him with one. I shot 300, and 299 missed, but that one is what counts."
Audio: "The only regret I have is that I didn't actually get to see the guy die ..."
Pfc. Chase Williams, 20, says he came from a troubled home in Bucks County. He attended William Tennet High School in Warminster. He joined the Army two years ago and plans to complete his tour next year and attend college, thanks to the GI Bill.
During a firefight this summer, Williams shot an enemy combatant in the leg with a 50-caliber machine gun, a powerful mounted gun. He later learned the man died at a local hospital and it was chalked up as a confirmed kill.
