Bare Knuckles: Modern Warfare might mop up the competition

As I mentioned in my Modern Warfare 2 pick, the game will probably dominate most sales charts for the next couple of months. If anyone needed further proof, how about the remarks of GameStop's executive vice president for merchandising and marketing, Tony Bartel?

"By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time," Bartel told USA Today this week. "The number of preorder reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network."

Now, to be fair, he is talking over multiple gaming platforms. A game from the Halo franchise, for instance, might be able to claim dibs on Xbox 360 sales . . . maybe.

Virtual bricks lead to real-life swishes

The star guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kevin Durant, has an interesting way to deal with losing - actually, he seems to get crushed, and quite often at that - in the hoop game NBA 2K10. It seems that after a beatdown in the virtual world by family and friends, he is more determined to dominate on the real court. He explains it to the Oklahoman newspaper this way.

"I threw my controller through my windows and threw it in the pool before," Durant said. "But without them knowing, they're giving me the competitive edge to win."

I will now take on all Sixers players in NBA 2K10. Especially you, Sammy D.

Wii not so good

Nintendo announced that Wii sales fell 34.5 percent last quarter, compared with last year. The quarter before that, Wii sales were down 40 percent over last year.

Nintendo president Sauro Iwata told Japan's Mainichi newspaper that the company couldn't feed the beast fast enough.

"The Wii has stalled," Iwata said. "Games of high demand could not be continuously released, and the good mood has chilled."

Iwata went on to say that the path back to high console sales could be difficult.

Agreed. If you wanted one, surely you have one by now. The real question to me is, in the face of ever dropping prices on the PS3 and Xbox 360, at what point does the consumer stop favoring the Wii?

The home stretch for the Wii now will probably be more a matter of what can Nintendo add to the Wii software lineup that is new and exciting?

I have no clue what that could be. And the hardware rout is probably over.

Dribble penetration & stretch 4's will mop up the sixers. SOLUTION: Iguodala defending the point guard and Sam defending the power forward. Sp8ts at Center! Sam can hedge and recover quickly I have seen that I have also seen Sam switch to the ball handler remember the block vs Houston last season. t mac v Sam. Sam moved his feet with an extended arm & blocked t macs shot. Next up DEVIN HARRIS!
