Cherokee rips Rancocas to clinch division

Andy Martin and Sean Farrell combined to provide Cherokee with a devastating air-ground attack, and the host Chiefs locked up the Burlco/Olympic American Division football title last night in convincing fashion, 56-28, over Rancocas Valley.

Martin completed 15 of 19 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns, while Farrell ran for 94 yards and three scores for Cherokee (8-0 overall, 7-0 league).

Mick Paye had a pair of TD catches for the Red Devils (2-6, 2-5).

Cape-Atlantic

Chris Curran hit Mike Coccodrilli with touchdown passes covering 22, 21 and 14 yards, and Sam Bryce broke off a 42-yard scoring jaunt in the fourth quarter to help Ocean City (3-5, 3-5) hold on for a 31-26 American Conference victory at Atlantic City (1-7, 1-7).

Matt Ireland ran for one score and threw for another - an 11-yarder to Jamil Bailey that pulled the Vikings within five points.

Bridgeton 28, Middle Township 13 - Mike Cisrow carried the ball 26 times for 198 yards and two touchdowns, and Kyheem Simpson hauled in TD passes of 42 and 63 yards from Tamar Jackson to power the host Bulldogs (4-4, 4-3) to the National Conference romp.

Nolan Quinn engineered a late rally by the Panthers (1-7, 0-6), lofting a 30-yard TD pass to Charles Cooper and firing a 28-yard scoring strike to Tim Bartell.

Oakcrest 20, Vineland 0 - A pair of second-half touchdown runs by Michael Smith allowed the Falcons (4-4, 3-4) to put away the American Conference game at Vineland (1-7, 0-7).

Tri-County

Conner McCafferty scored three touchdowns and kicked a field goal to lead host Clearview to a 24-6 romp past Royal Division rival Deptford (0-8, 0-7).

Backup quarterback Ryan Weatherby's first career TD pass opened the scoring for the Pioneers (2-6, 1-5).

Schalick 49, Clayton 28 - Jon Goldsboro rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns, Kyle Philo ran for a pair of scores, and the host Cougars (6-2, 4-0) wrapped up the Classic Division crown by cruising past Clayton (2-3, 2-1) on Thursday.

Nonleague

Trevor Loveland capped a 67-yard rushing performance with a game-winning 8-yard touchdown run with 55 seconds left to boost Cherry Hill West (4-4) past visiting Northern Burlington, 20-19.

Northern's Dan Van Meter threw a touchdown pass in the first period and later scored on a 1-yard sneak early in the fourth quarter that put the Greyhounds (2-7) ahead, 19-13, but missed a two-point conversion pass.

Loveland's winning touchdown was a race to the pylon in the corner of the end zone that tied the game, and he added the decisive conversion kick.

Williamstown 50, Father Judge 12 - Marcus Hampton carried the ball 17 times for 230 yards and four touchdowns, and Ron Gordon had kick returns TDs of 71 and 68 yards, as the Braves (8-0) crushed the visiting Crusaders (4-6).

Glassboro 14, Kingsway 13 - P.J. James rolled up 215 yards and two scores on the ground and came through with 15 tackles from his linebacker position, as the host Bulldogs (7-1) survived a late scare to defeat Kingsway (3-5).

The Dragons broke through for a pair of late touchdowns but, following an errant extra-point kick, Glassboro was able to run out the clock.

Seneca 13, Lenape 9 - The visiting Golden Eagles (6-2) held off the upset-minded Indians (2-6) as Steve Greco scored the game-winning 8-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Pennsville 48, Pitman 28 - Ken Emmons threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns and added 93 yards and one TD on the ground, and Tim Haslett rushed for 147 yards and three scores in sending the host Eagles (7-1) to the rout of Pitman (2-6).

Nick Capella's arm accounted for all four Panthers' TDs, including a pair of scoring tosses to Dylan Colgate.

Cinnaminson 47, Riverside 7 - The Pirates (6-2), who have not scored less than 20 points in a game, posted their biggest point total of the season at Riverside (0-8).

Burlington City 35, Delran 14 - Shawn Diamond threw for two scores and Davon Jones ran for a pair of TDs, as the host Blue Devils (5-3) dispatched Delran (2-6).
